MN Community Measurement changed its legal name to Minnesota Statewide Health Information Network and Exchange (MNSHINE, pronounced “MIN-shine”) effective November 1, 2026. The new name reflects the organization’s expanded role. MNSHINE brings together statewide quality measurement and reporting with health information exchange (HIE) under one mission-driven nonprofit, making an important step toward a more connected, coordinated health data landscape for Minnesota.
What can users of the PIPE Measurement and Reporting Portal expect as a result of this change?
- Your existing agreements with MNCM remain in full effect and MNSHINE will be the party to them under its new name.
- Quality measurement and reporting continues as MNSHINE Measurement & Reporting, and current data submission requirements and timelines are not changing as a result of the name change.
- How the data you submit is protected and used does not change. It continues to be governed by your agreements with us and applicable law, and bringing measurement and exchange into one organization does not change the purposes for which that data may be used.
- Our staff contacts remain the same, though email addresses have changed (stafflastname@mnshine.org and support@mnshine.org).
- The URL of commonly used websites have been updated from MNCM to MNSHINE, including but not limited to the PIPE Portal, the PIPE Upload site, Help Desk/Knowledge Base, and the Secure File Transfer site. The vast majority of these sites will be redirected from the previous URL to the new, so you won't miss a thing.
- The address of the PIPE sFTP server will change. Organizations that submit data files to the PIPE Portal using a connection to the PIPE sFTP server have been contacted directly regarding timing and instructions for the change.
- The PIPE Measurement & Reporting Portal has been re-branded as MNSHINE throughout the site. Functionality within the site has not changed.
- PIPE Portal Users will need to re-confirm their agreement with the site's Terms of Use upon their first login after the name change. No content in the agreement has been updated; only updates to reflect the legal name change of our organization.
- Written materials related to the use of the PIPE Portal and articles in the MNSHINE Knowledge Base will gradually be re-branded over the course of the coming weeks. PIPE Portal users will only be notified of the release of updated documentation if there have been content changes beyond the re-brand.
